Bentonite material manufactured for use as a drilling fluid does not meet the requirements for bentonite grout. For approval by the chief engineer, bentonite grout must contain a minimum of 20 percent solids by weight and have a minimum slurry density of 9.4 pounds per gallon and must be mixed according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
