A kinship foster parent applicant shall demonstrate the ability to provide care to the kinship child that meets the child’s intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs. The applicant's ability is determined by the applicant's capacity to:
- (1) Provide an understanding of, and encouragement and emotional support to, the kinship child;
- (2) Provide assistance to the kinship child in coping with daily living experiences;
- (3) Provide supervision of the kinship child;
- (4) Understand child development and the appropriate use of discipline;
- (5) Apply the reasonable and prudent parent standard for the participation in age or developmentally-appropriate activities; and
- (6) Participate with the licensing agency or a responsible party in devising and executing a case plan for the kinship child living in the home.
