A conference is an informal meeting between the applicant or recipient and the caseworker or the caseworker's supervisor who was involved in determining the proposed action. At the conference, the reasons for the proposed action must be explained to the applicant or recipient, and the applicant or recipient may present information that demonstrates the proposed action is incorrect. The applicant or recipient may be represented by legal counsel, a friend, or another person. The department is not responsible for the payment of fees for the applicant or recipient's representation.
