In addition to routine periodic inspections, upon receipt of information from a law enforcement officer, a person who has transacted business with the licensed dealer, or another reliable source that the dealer may be in violation of a law or rule, the department may conduct an inspection for the purpose of ascertaining if the licensed dealer is in violation. If the department determines that a dealer is in violation, the department may proceed under law.
