A patient may self-administer medication if the interdisciplinary team consisting of selected healthcare workers and licensed health professionals, has determined the self-administration to be safe. The determination must be in writing and state whether the patient or the nursing personnel is responsible for storage of the medication and documentation of its administration in accordance with chapter 44:75:08.
