Hospitals with 50 beds or less that accept surgical patients shall provide one operating room. The number of operating rooms for hospitals over 50 beds shall be based on the expected surgical workload. The surgical suite shall be located to prevent through traffic. A recovery room with charting space, medication storage and preparation space, and a clinical sink is required.
