A facility shall have the capacity to supply steam and hot water to meet the normal requirements of all the facility's systems and equipment. Supply and return mains and risers of space heating and process steam systems must be valved to isolate the various sections of each system. Each piece of equipment must be valved at the supply and return end. Boilers, smoke breeching, steam supply piping, high pressure steam return piping, and hot water space heating supply and return piping must be insulated with insulation having a flame spread index of twenty-five or less and a smoke emission rating of fifty or less using ASTM E84-23D, 2010 edition, Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials or equivalent test procedures.
