Each hospital shall provide emergency laboratory services which are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Laboratory examinations necessary for diagnosis and treatment of the patient must be performed in the hospital or by arrangement. The medical staff and facility bylaws determine whether laboratory examinations are required for patients upon admission to the hospital. The original laboratory report must be made a part of the patient's medical record.
