The governing body shall designate a qualified administrator to represent the owner or governing body and to be responsible for the daily overall management of the facility. The administrator shall designate a qualified person to represent the administrator during the administrator's absence. The governing body shall notify the department in writing of any change of administrator. The administrator of a facility must be a licensed health professional, be a graduate from an accredited institution of a higher learning program for long-term healthcare or health service administration program, or complete a department-approved assisted living administrator course. If completing a department-approved assisted living administrator course, the facility administrator must be supervised by a qualified administrator with at least two years of experience as an administrator until the course is complete. The administrator must provide a certificate of completion and an attestation statement that the administrator has read article 44:70 to the department before the administrator is considered qualified.
The administrator or designee must be available to meet the needs of the residents or to meet with a resident and family when needed.
