Special purpose buoys designating established safety zones or restricted waters must be white with orange trim. The buoys shall have a diameter of not less than 8 inches or an overall length of not less than 42 inches and shall ride not less than 8 inches above the water. The buoys must have markings showing whether the buoy's purpose is to alert all boaters to a reduced speed area or a restricted area or to provide general information.
