Before any device for the prevention of backflow or backsiphonage is installed, it must have first been certified as meeting the requirements of Section 603.2, Approval of Devices or Assemblies, of the Uniform Plumbing Code, 2024 edition. Any person in control of a device that is installed in a potable water supply for protection against backflow must maintain the device in good working condition. The administrative authority having jurisdiction may inspect the device and, if it is found to be ineffective or inoperative, the administrative authority must require replacement of the device.
