The examination for applicants desiring to become licensed shall consist of questions that are based on the code. The applicant may use the code to answer the questions.

The questions for water conditioning contractor and installer need not be the same. The passing grade for a water conditioning contractor is 80 percent and the passing grade for an installer is 70 percent. If a water conditioning installer receives 80 percent or above on the installer examination, the installer is not required to write the water conditioning contractor examination when applying for the contractor's license, but must pay the license and examination fee in § 20:53:04:04 for a contractor's license.
