A certified nurse aide registered by the board shall renew the registration biennially. Renewal of registration is by the birth date of the registrant. The board shall send a notice for renewal to the last known address of each registrant at least ninety days before the registrant's expiration date. Failure to receive the notice for renewal does not relieve the registrant of the responsibility for renewing by the final date of the registration renewal period. If a certified nurse aide fails to renew by the final date of the renewal period or fails to meet the renewal requirements listed in subdivisions (1) to (4), inclusive, of this section, the aide must be listed as lapsed on the registry. The board must renew the registration of, or reinstate the lapsed registration of, a certified nurse aide if the aide:
(4) Submits evidence of having completed a minimum of twelve hours of in-service education annually during the preceding two years which must include content on:
(b) Client abuse, neglect, exploitation, and misappropriation of property, and procedures to report incidents of client abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misappropriation.
An applicant who does not meet the requirements in subsections (3) or (4) of this section must pass a board-approved knowledge exam and skills evaluation, in accordance with §§ 20:48:16:09 to 20:48:16:11, inclusive.
