The official veterinarian, the stewards, or the authorized representatives of the commission may take samples of any medicines or other materials suspected of containing improper medication or drugs which could affect the racing condition of a horse in a race. These medicines or other materials may be found in stables or elsewhere on racetracks or in the possession of the tracks or any person connected with racing. The sample shall be delivered to the official chemist for analysis. The samples may be retained by the commission.
