A jockey's fee shall be considered earned when the jockey enters the paddock for the race at the call of an official. The fee for a losing mount shall be paid if the horse is scratched by the stewards or the starter. The fee shall be forfeited by a jockey who removes himself or herself from a horse which is not scratched by the officials, unless the jockey is excused by the officials.
