In addition to meeting the general standards in § 12:56:05:04, applicators seeking certification in wood preservative pest control must be tested on their knowledge of:

1. (1) Wood preservative application, including:

   1. (a) The preparation of wood for treatment;
   2. (b) Methods of applying wood preservatives; and
   3. (c) Factors influencing the effectiveness of wood preservatives;

2. (2) Protecting human health, including:

   1. (a) Hazards to applicator that may have acute or chronic effects;
   2. (b) Safety procedures to reduce exposure;
   3. (c) First aid; and
   4. (d) The wearing and care of protective equipment;

3. (3) Protecting the environment, including:

   1. (a) Waste disposal;
   2. (b) The storage and disposal of containers; and
   3. (c) The handling of spills; and
4. (4) Monitoring procedures for the measurement of ambient inorganic arsenicals.
