A person must pass a written examination under supervision of the secretary and demonstrate the ability to collect an official farm bulk tank sample, and perform manufacturing grade farm inspections before the secretary grants a dairy fieldman's license. To retain a license, a dairy fieldman must attend an annual seminar approved by the department.
