The commission shall approve a basic training course for certification as a law enforcement officer which consists of a 520 hour curriculum of training which includes the following subject areas:

1. (1) Program administration;
2. (2) Police practices and procedures;
3. (3) Legal aspects;
4. (4) Human behavior; and
5. (5) Domestic abuse.
