(a) Coroner.— The coroner of a county in which a county morgue is established shall have the following duties:

1. (1) Make general rules and regulations for the morgue's operation and control.
2. (2) Appoint a suitable individual in charge of the morgue. An individual appointed under this paragraph may be removed at the pleasure of the coroner.
