1. (a) Recorded representations, point of sale systems. The sales information recorded by cash registers when interfaced with a weighing element shall contain the following information for items weighed at the checkout stand:

   1. (1) The net weight identified by the words ‘‘pounds,’’ ‘‘grams,’’ or ‘‘kilograms’’ or by the abbreviations ‘‘lb,’’ ‘‘g,’’ or ‘‘kg.’’
   2. (2) The unit price with weight values identified as in paragraph (1).
   3. (3) The total price.
   4. (4) The product class, name or code number.
2. (b) Effect of section. Subsection (a) supersedes all sections of the National Bureau of Standards Handbook 44 which are inconsistent with the provisions of subsection (a).
