The requirements for the color of school bus bodies are as follows:

1. (1) The school bus body shall be painted a uniform National School Bus Yellow. See Appendix B.
2. (2) The roof of the school bus may be painted white.
3. (3) The body exterior trim, including the exterior mirrors, may be black. The bumper shall be black.

4. (4) If a school bus is equipped with reflective material, other than that required under § § 171.50 and 171.59 (relating to doors and emergency exits; and lamps and signals), the reflective material shall be of automotive engineering grade or better. If additional reflective materials and markings are used, they may be applied as follows:

   

   

   

5. (5) The pilaster (vertical window post) may be black.
6. (6) The color requirements in this section do not apply to multifunction school activity buses.
