Except as provided in § 79.3 (relating to use of prosthesis), the driver’s license issued to a person who has lost one or more limbs shall be coded to indicate the type of special controls or equipment required on any vehicle driven by such person, as follows:

1. (1) Amputated left leg:

   1. (i) Automatic transmission.
   2. (ii) Hand dimmer switch.
   3. (iii) Hand emergency brake.

2. (2) Amputated right leg:

   1. (i) Automatic transmission.
   2. (ii) Hand brake.
   3. (iii) Hand gas feed.

3. (3) Left arm amputated above or below the elbow:

   1. (i) Automatic transmission.
   2. (ii) Knob on the steering wheel.

4. (4) A right arm amputated above or below the elbow:

   1. (i) Automatic transmission.
   2. (ii) Knob on the steering wheel.

5. (5) Both legs amputated:

   1. (i) Automatic transmission.
   2. (ii) All hand controls.

6. (6) Both hands amputated:

   1. (i) Automatic type transmission.
   2. (ii) Special foot control equipment.
