1. (a) A staff person who has successfully completed a Department-approved medication administration course, including the course renewal requirements, may administer medications, injections, procedures and treatments as specified in § 2390.192 (relating to medication administration).

2. (b) A staff person may administer insulin injections following successful completion of both:

   1. (1) The medication administration course specified in subsection (a).
   2. (2) A Department-approved diabetes patient education program within the past 12 months.

3. (c) A staff person may administer an epinephrine injection by means of an auto-injection device in response to anaphylaxis or another serious allergic reaction following successful completion of both:

   1. (1) The medication administration course specified in subsection (a).
   2. (2) Training within the past 24 months relating to the use of an auto-injection epinephrine injection device provided by a health care professional who is licensed, certified or registered by the Department of State in the health care field.
4. (d) A record of the training shall be kept, including the person trained, the date, source, name of trainer and documentation that the course was successfully completed.
