APPROVAL OF PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAMS

Practical nurse programs require approval for the following reasons:

1. (1) To safeguard the preparation of practical nurses, and to assure safe standards of nursing practice in this Commonwealth.
2. (2) To guide prospective students in the selection of approved programs which offer adequate resources for sound basic practical nursing education.
3. (3) To insure the graduates of practical nursing programs of eligibility for admission to examination for licensure.
4. (4) To assist graduates of programs of practical nursing in this Commonwealth to qualify for licensure by endorsement in other jurisdictions.
5. (5) To stimulate and maintain continued growth and improvement of practical nursing education in this Commonwealth.
