The following species have the most durable heartwood and it is recommended that they be used where resistance to decay is required:

2. (2) Osage orange.
3. (3) Port Orford cedar.
4. (4) Alaska cedar.
5. (5) Red cypress.
6. (6) Redwood.
7. (7) Incense cedar.
8. (8) Western red cedar.
9. (9) Chestnut.
