(a) First stage. One copy of the narrative description and one copy of the schematic drawings shall be provided.

1. (1) Program narrative.

   1. (i) List in outline form the rooms or spaces to be included in each department, explaining the functions or services to be provided in each, indicating the approximate size, the number of personnel and the kind of equipment or furniture it will contain. Note special or unusual services or equipment to be included in the facility.
   2. (ii) Give an outline of construction materials.

2. (2) Schematic plans.

   1. (i) Single line drawings of each floor shall show the relationship of the various departments or services to each other and the room arrangement in each department. The name of each room shall be noted. The proposed roads and walks, service and entrance courts, parking and orientation may be shown on either a small plot plan or the first floor plan. A simple vertical space diagram shall be submitted at this stage.
   2. (ii) If the project is an addition or is otherwise related to existing buildings on the site, the plans shall show the facilities and general arrangement of those buildings.

(b) Second stage. Two copies of the preliminary plans shall be provided.

1. (1) Architectural.

   1. (i) One-eighth inch scale floor plans of basement, floors and roof showing space assignment, sizes and outline of fixed and movable equipment.
   2. (ii) Elevations and typical wall sections.
   3. (iii) Plot plan showing roads, parking and sidewalks.

2. (2) Mechanical.

   1. (i) Single line layouts of duct and piping systems which include air rates for determining pressure relationships.
   2. (ii) Riser diagrams for multi-story construction.

3. (3) Electrical.

   1. (i) Plans showing space assignment, sizes and outline of fixed equipment, such as transformers, main switch and switchboards and generator sets.
   2. (ii) Simple riser diagram for multi-story building construction showing arrangement of feeders, subfeeders, bus work, load centers and branch circuit panels.

(c) Third stage—contract documents. Four sets of drawings shall be provided, complete and adequate for bid contract and construction purposes. Drawings shall be prepared for each of the following branches of work: architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical.

1. (1) Drawings may be no less than 1/8 inch scale and show indications of fixed and movable equipment.
2. (2) If necessary, 1/4 inch scale drawing shall be included.
3. (3) Fire-rated assemblies, such as U.L., Factory Mutual and the like—shall be included on the drawings.
4. (4) Specifications shall supplement the drawings to fully describe the types, sizes, capacities, workmanship, finishes and other characteristics of materials and equipment.
