GRANTS FOR DEVELOPMENT ANDIMPLEMENTATION OF MUNICIPAL RECYCLINGPROGRAMS

1. (a) The Department will award grants for development and implementation of municipal recycling programs, upon application from a municipality. The grant may be used for one or more of the following:

   1. (1) To identify markets, develop a public education campaign, purchase collection and storage equipment and do other things necessary to establish a municipal recycling program.
   2. (2) To purchase collection equipment, but only to the extent needed for collection of recyclable materials.
   3. (3) To purchase mechanical processing equipment, but only to the extent that the equipment is not available to the program in the private sector.
2. (b) This grant may be awarded to a municipality for eligible costs incurred for a municipal recycling program on or after August 27, 1988.
