(1) Inactive status may be granted to state-licensed pilots who have provided notice in writing to the Board on the form provided by the Board.
- (a) Inactive licensees may not engage in pilotage in the State of Oregon and must reactivate the license to return to grounds.
- (b) A pilot who returned to active status within the past six (6) months is ineligible for inactive status.
(2) To reactivate a license from inactive status to active status, a pilot shall submit a written request on a form provided by the Board and signed by the applicant, and:
- (a) Provide documentation of meeting relicensing each requirement described in OAR 856-016-0010 subsections (2) to (6).
- (b) Pay the annual license fee in OAR 856-015-0045(1).
- (c) Provide documentation of completing continuing education activities which at a minimum meet the requirements described in OAR 856-016-0001 within the twelve (12) month period immediately preceding the requested date of reactivation.
- (d) Provide a statement of the number of trips under the supervision of an unlimited state-licensed pilot taken to re-familiarize the pilot with the pilotage ground.
- (e) A pilot shall take no fewer than two (2) trips for every 90 days on inactive status. Refamiliarization trips shall be taken under the supervision of an unlimited state-licensed pilot to re-familiarize the pilot with the pilotage ground.
- (f) Only pilots who provide all the required document are eligible for reactive their license. Pilots who apply for license reactivation without meeting the qualifications described in this section shall receive notice of denial.
- (g) Pilots who provide all the required documents and meet all the qualifications described in this section shall receive notice of the date upon which their license returns to active status.
- (3) An individual whose state pilots license has expired may apply for inactive status within 24 months of license expiration. This subsection expires on December 31, 2026.
- (4) A pilot may elect to remain on inactive status for no more than five (5) years from the date that notice of inactive status was provided to the Board. An inactive license that has not been reactivated within five (5) years is expired.
