Or. Admin. R. 635-023-0128 – Summer Sport Fishery

The current annual Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations provide requirements for the Columbia River Zone. However, additional regulations may be adopted in this rule division from time to time, and, to the extent of any inconsistency, they supersede the current annual Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.

(1) In the mainstem Columbia River from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to a line projected from Rocky Point on the Washington bank through Red Buoy 44 to the navigation light at Tongue Point on the Oregon bank the following regulations apply:
1. (a) Effective June 16 through June 26, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
2. (b) Effective June 27 through July 5, retention of sockeye, hatchery jack Chinook salmon, and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
3. (c) Effective July 6 through July 31, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
4. (d) When closed to sockeye retention, the daily adult bag limit is one hatchery steelhead; and
5. (e) When open to sockeye retention, the daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit is two fish, of which only one may be a steelhead.
(2) In the mainstem Columbia River from a line projected from Rocky Point on the Washington bank through Red Buoy 44 to the navigation light at Tongue Point on the Oregon bank upstream to I-5 bridge the following regulations apply:
1. (a) Effective June 16 through June 26, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
2. (b) Effective June 27 through July 5, retention of sockeye, hatchery jack Chinook salmon, and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
3. (c) Effective July 6 through July 31, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
4. (d) When closed to sockeye retention, the daily adult bag limit is one hatchery steelhead; and
5. (e) When open to sockeye retention, the daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit is two fish, of which only one may be a steelhead.
(3) In the mainstem Columbia River from I-5 bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam the following regulations apply:
1. (a) Effective June 16 through June 26, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
2. (b) Effective June 27 through July 5, retention of sockeye, hatchery jack Chinook salmon, and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
3. (c) Effective July 6 through July 31, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
4. (d) When closed to sockeye retention, the daily adult bag limit is one hatchery steelhead; and
5. (e) When open to sockeye retention, the daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit is two fish, of which only one may be a steelhead.
(4) In the mainstem Columbia River from Bonneville Dam upstream to the OR/WA border (upstream of McNary Dam) the following regulations apply:
1. (a) Effective June 16 through June 26, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
2. (b) Effective June 27 through July 5, retention of sockeye, hatchery jack Chinook salmon, and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
3. (c) Effective July 6 through July 31, retention of hatchery jack Chinook salmon and hatchery steelhead is allowed;
4. (d) When closed to sockeye retention, the daily adult bag limit is one hatchery steelhead; and
5. (e) When open to sockeye retention, the daily adult salmon and steelhead bag limit is two fish, of which only one may be a steelhead.
(5) Effective June 16 through July 15, angling is prohibited between markers 150 feet above and 450 feet below the mouth of Tanner Creek out to the center of the Columbia River.
(6) Effective June 16 through July 15, angling is prohibited in Tanner Creek from the mouth upstream to the mainline railroad bridge.
(7) Effective July 15 through July 31, thermal angling sanctuaries described in OAR 635-023-0090 (3)(b) through (3)(d), and (3)(f) are in effect. (8) All other general statewide and zone regulations, including the area closures listed on pages 74 and 75 of the current annual Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations, remain in effect.
