A hospice program shall develop, implement and maintain an infection control program to prevent and control infections and communicable diseases. The program shall include at a minimum:

1. (1) A tuberculosis infection control plan in accordance with OAR 333-019-0041;
2. (2) Appropriate disposal of sharp instruments in accordance with OAR 333-056-0050;

3. (3) Development and maintenance of policies and procedures that include, at a minimum:

   1. (a) Standard precautions such as hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, and personal protective equipment;
   2. (b) Availability of personal protective equipment and other equipment necessary to implement plan of care; and
   3. (c) Exposure to bloodborne pathogens such as Hepatitis B and HIV and other potentially infectious agents.
4. (4) Education and training on infection control measures to staff, patients, and caregivers.
