An EFS will be effective for a period of five (5) years from the date of filing, subject to extensions for additional periods of five (5) years each by refiling or filing a continuation statement within six (6) months before the expiration of the initial five-year period [12A:1-9-320.2(d)(vi)]. An EFS is removed from the active files if a continuation has not been accepted prior to the expiration of the current filing period.
