Killed in the performance of duty means an employee's death is a direct result of an action, whether felonious or accidental, occurring as a direct result of performing their assigned work-related functions of employment. Work-related function means action that the employee is authorized or obligated to perform by law, rule, regulation, or condition of employment or service, which is performed while on paid duty with the participating employer.
