1. (a) All consumers shall be assessed for biopsychsocial appropriateness of discharge from each level of care using ASAM criteria that includes a list of symptoms for all six dimensions and each of the levels of care, to determine a clinically appropriate placement in the least restrictive level of care. This organized process involves a professional determination for appropriate placement to a specific level of care based on the consumer's severity of symptoms and current situations.

   1. (1) Acute intoxication and/or withdrawal potential;
   2. (2) Biomedical conditions and complications;
   3. (3) Emotional, behavioral or cognitive conditions and complications;
   4. (4) Readiness to change;
   5. (5) Relapse, continued use or continued problem potential; and
   6. (6) Recovery/living environment.

2. (b) Compliance with 450:70-3-10 may be determined by:

   1. (1) A review of policies and procedures, and
   2. (2) Discharge assessments in clinical records.
