1. (a) The ICF/IID care aide training program shall include at least seventy-five (75) hours of classroom and supervised practical training or the equivalent.

2. (b) The ICF/IID care aide training program shall include, but is not limited to, each of the following subject areas:

   1. (1) Ethical conduct.
   2. (2) Resident's rights.
   3. (3) Principles of safety.
   4. (4) Infection control techniques.
   5. (5) Nutrition and hydration.
   6. (6) Elements and changes of body functions.
   7. (7) Basic nursing skills.
   8. (8) Communication skills.
   9. (9) Mobility.
   10. (10) Hygiene, personal care, and comfort.

   11. (11) Terminology, principles, and concepts of cognitive impairment.

       1. (A) Characteristics of cognitive impairment.
       2. (B) Discern between different levels of intellectual disability.
       3. (C) Principles of assessment tools.
       4. (D) Terminology of active treatment.

   12. (12) Psychosocial needs.

       1. (A) Behavioral management techniques.
       2. (B) Identification of psychosocial needs.
       3. (C) Death and dying.
       4. (D) Recognizing deviant behavior.
       5. (E) Socialization skills.

   13. (13) Independent living skills.

       1. (A) Promoting physical and mental independence.
       2. (B) Promoting principles of normalization and community integration.

   14. (14) Active treatment components.

       1. (A) Interdisciplinary team concepts and roles.
       2. (B) Components of individual program plans.
       3. (C) Using individual program plans.
       4. (D) Proper documentation techniques.
