Use of Ozone for disinfection. Requests for use of ozone disinfection shall be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. All ozone systems shall meet the requirements established in OAC 252:626-9-4 including the following:

1. (1) Disinfection by ozone shall meet requirements pursuant to OAC 252:656-27-3(b)(3).
2. (2) Disinfection by ozone shall meet inactivation of microorganisms as required in OAC 252:656-27-3(a)(6).

3. (3) Design shall identify the total CT requirement and evaluate ozone dose, potential ozone demand, plug flow contact time, and whether microflocculation of solids could cause compliance problems with other permit limits, such as effluent, TSS, and turbidity. These factors shall be determined based on one of the following:

   1. (A) pilot studies
   2. (B) a minimum of three (3) well documented analogous projects.
