(A) With respect to the following individuals who receive certificates to practice issued under this chapter, all of the following apply:

1. (1) A first responder shall be also known as an emergency medical responder or EMR;
2. (2) An emergency medical technician-basic or EMT-basic shall be also known as an emergency medical technician or EMT, respectively;
3. (3) An emergency medical technician-intermediate or EMT-I shall be also known as an advanced emergency medical technician or AEMT, respectively.

(B) With respect to the provisions of this chapter and all other provisions of the Revised Code that refer to the individuals specified in division (A) of this section, all of the following apply:

1. (1) A reference to a first responder is deemed to be a reference to an emergency medical responder or EMR;
2. (2) A reference to an emergency medical technician-basic or EMT-basic is deemed to be a reference to an emergency medical technician or EMT, respectively;
3. (3) A reference to an emergency medical technician-intermediate or EMT-I is deemed to be a reference to an advanced emergency medical technician or AEMT, respectively.
