As used in sections 4513.50 to 4513.53 of the Revised Code:

1. (A)

   1. (1) "Bus" means any vehicle used for the transportation of passengers that meets at least one of the following:

      1. (a) Was originally designed by the manufacturer to transport more than fifteen passengers, including the driver;
      2. (b) Either the gross vehicle weight rating or the gross vehicle weight exceeds ten thousand pounds.
   2. (2) "Bus" does not include a church bus as defined in section 4503.07 of the Revised Code or a school bus unless the church bus or school bus is used in the transportation of passengers by a motor carrier.

   3. (3) "Bus" also does not include any of the following:

      1. (a) Any vehicle operated exclusively on a rail or rails;
      2. (b) A trolley bus operated by electric power derived from a fixed overhead wire furnishing local passenger transportation similar to street-railway service;
      3. (c) Vehicles owned or leased by government agencies or political subdivisions.
2. (B) "Motor carrier" has the same meaning as in section 4923.01 of the Revised Code.
