- (A) Beginning not later than the 2027-2028 academic year, each state institution of higher education, as defined in section 3345.011 of the Revised Code, shall develop and implement a co-op internship program that aligns with JobsOhio's target economic sectors and connects students with Ohio-based employers to facilitate work-based learning opportunities, which may include apprenticeships, internships, externships, and co-ops, related to the student's course of study. Institutions shall work with JobsOhio to develop and implement their program, which shall include identifying industry and employer partners.
- (B) The chancellor of higher education shall consult with JobsOhio and any other appropriate stakeholders to develop the goals, structure, and parameters of the program. The chancellor may consult with other stakeholders.
- (C) Beginning on the thirtieth day of June following the academic year in which the co-op internship program under division (A) of this section is implemented and annually thereafter, each institution shall issue a report to the chancellor on the status of the institution's program, including the number of participating students, which employers are partnering with the institution, and how many participating students have received or accepted offers of employment after graduation as a direct result of their participation in the program.
