N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. tit. 9, § 470.5 – Validity and limitations.

(a) A firearms license issued by the superintendent becomes valid upon the member's separation from service, and any prior license issued by local authority transferred to the superintendent pursuant to section 470.4 of this Part is null and void.
(b) There is no limit as to the number of firearms that may be licensed by the superintendent, subject to the restriction below.
