(2) Professional scholarship shall mean a Regents professional opportunity scholarship awarded pursuant to Education Law, section 605(10).
(b) Eligibility for payment of awards.
Except as provided herein, payment of awards under this section shall be made to recipients who fulfill the eligibility criteria set forth in section 2201.1 of this Title and, in addition, fulfill the eligibility criteria set forth in this section.
(2) Recipients of health care scholarships and professional scholarships shall be enrolled in an approved program, as defined by the commissioner pursuant to section 145-6.1(b)(1) of this Title.
(c) Amount of awards.
(2) Annual professional scholarship payments shall be made in an amount of up to $5,000; provided, however, that the award shall be reduced by $1 for every $4 by which the applicant's income shall exceed the amount set forth for an economically disadvantaged student pursuant to section 27-1.1 of this Title; provided, further, that such reduction shall not reduce an annual award to less than $1,000. Anything to the contrary herein notwithstanding, however, no award shall exceed the costs of attendance.
(d) Payment of awards.
All awards under this section shall be paid in separate installments, on a pro rata basis, for each semester, quarter or term of attendance during the academic year.
(e) Institutional responsibilities.
In addition to the certification procedures set forth in section 2205.3 of this Title, an institution, in certifying the eligibility of a recipient of an award under this section, shall report to the corporation the recipient's cost of attendance which for the purposes of this section shall mean tuition, required fees, laboratory and other instruction-related expenses, transportation and room and board, as those terms are defined in section 2200.2(f) of this Title.
(f) Duration of award.
(2) Professional scholarship recipients shall be entitled to payments of awards for up to but not more than four academic years, unless enrolled in a program of study recognized by the Regents as normally requiring more than four years to complete, in which case the recipient shall be entitled to payment of awards for that number of academic years as recognized by the Regents as required.
(g) Reports.
(2) All other recipients of awards under this section shall report to the corporation, on such forms and at such times as the president may prescribe, such information as to his or her graduation, licensure or certification, and employment status, as the president may require.
