1. (1) General education content area shall mean coursework, which includes but is not limited to, each of the following curricular areas:

   1. (i) social and behavioral sciences; and
   2. (ii) humanities, including but not limited to English.

2. (2) Basic sciences content area shall mean coursework, which includes but is not limited to the following curricular areas:

   1. (i) mathematics;
   2. (ii) biological sciences, including but not limited to general biology; and
   3. (iii) physical sciences, including but not limited to general and organic chemistry.

3. (3) Biomedical sciences content area shall mean coursework, which includes but is not limited to, each of the following curricular areas:

   1. (i) anatomy;
   2. (ii) physiology;
   3. (iii) microbiology/immunology;
   4. (iv) biochemistry;
   5. (v) pathology; and
   6. (vi) biostatistics.

4. (4) Pharmaceutical sciences content area shall mean coursework, which includes but is not limited to, each of the following curricular areas:

   1. (i) pharmaceutical or medicinal chemistry;
   2. (ii) basic pharmaceutics, including but not limited to compounding and dispensing;
   3. (iii) biopharmaceutics;
   4. (iv) pharmacokinetics;
   5. (v) pharmacognosy or natural products;
   6. (vi) pharmacology; and
   7. (vii) pharmacy administration.

5. (5) Clinical sciences content area shall mean coursework in clinical applications using knowledge gained in the biomedical sciences content area and in the pharmaceutical sciences content area, including but not limited to coursework in each of the following curricular areas: clinical and practice foundations, disease processes, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, and drug information and literature evaluation; and shall include an appropriate mix of clinical experiences in community and institutional pharmacies and in appropriate in-patient and out-patient settings.

   (b) Curriculum.

   In addition to meeting all applicable provisions of this Part, to be registered as a program recognized as leading to licensure in pharmacy which meets the requirements of section 63.1 of this Title, it shall be a program leading to the baccalaureate degree, its equivalent, or a higher academic degree, which includes:

6. (1) a total of at least 60 semester hours or its equivalent of preprofessional study consisting of a combination of coursework in the basic sciences content area and the general education content area, provided that a minimum of 20 semester hours or its equivalent shall be in the basic sciences content area and a minimum of 20 semester hours or its equivalent shall be in the general education content area; and
7. (2) a total of at least 90 semester hours or its equivalent of professional study consisting of a combination of coursework in the biomedical sciences content area, pharmaceutical sciences content area, and the clinical sciences content area, provided that a minimum of 15 semester hours or its equivalent shall be in the biomedical sciences content area, a minimum of 20 semester hours or its equivalent shall be in the pharmaceutical sciences content area, and a minimum of 15 semester hours or its equivalent shall be in the clinical sciences content area.

(a) Definitions.

As used in this section:
