(a) The following definitions refer to urinals:

1. (1) Urinal means a plumbing fixture that receives only liquid body waste and, on demand, conveys the waste through a trap seal into a gravity drainage system.
2. (2) Prison-type urinal means a urinal designed and marketed expressly for use in prison-type institutions.
3. (3) Trough-type urinal means a urinal designed for simultaneous use by two or more persons.
4. (4) Vacuum-type urinal means a urinal whose bowl is evacuated by the application of a vacuum.
5. (5) Water use means the quantity of water flowing through a water closet or urinal at point of use, determined in accordance with test procedures under 10 CFR part 430 (Appendix T to Subpart B of part 430), as incorporated by reference in section 509.61 of this Part.

6. (6) Waterless urinal means a urinal designed to be used without the application of water for flushing.

   (b) Standard requirements for urinals.

7. (1) The water consumption of urinals, other than those designed and marketed exclusively for use at prisons or mental health care facilities, shall be no greater than the values shown in Table 37 of this paragraph. Table 37: Standards for Urinals

   (c) Test procedures for assuring compliance with the standards established in subdivision (b) of this section.

8. (1) The test method for testing gallons per flush of urinals is 10 CFR section 430.23(v) (Appendix T to Subpart B of part 430), as incorporated by reference in section 509.61 of this Part.
