N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. tit. 15, § 46.12
(a) Every school bus manufactured for use in this State on or after April 1, 2000, and every school bus used in this State on or after September 1, 2002, shall be equipped with exterior reflective markings as follows:
(1) the rear of the school bus shall be marked with reflective material to outline the perimeter of the back of the school bus and of the rear emergency exit;
(2)
(4) reflective material may be applied to the front and rear bumpers of school buses. If it is applied, such reflective material shall be between 1¾ and 2¼ inches wide applied thereto at a 45 degree angle to the center line of the road surface. There shall be a two-inch wide nonreflective strip between each strip of reflective material.
(b) Reflective material.
Reflective material shall mean reflective material as set forth in 17 NYCRR 720.4(n)(2).
