Signs.
Department of Labor
- (a) All elevator cars shall have a sign posted conspicuously which shall show the maximum rated load that can be carried on the elevator.
- (b) All freight elevator cars shall have a sign posted conspicuously reading as follows: “Passengers Not Permitted”.
- (c) All signs, except capacity signs, shall consist of letters not less than one inch in height.
(d) Manually operated doors or gates of freight elevator hoistways, shall be provided with a sign posted conspicuously on the landing side of the doors or gate—“Elevator—Keep This Shut”.
Exceptions:
- (1) Fire doors when held back by fusible link where permitted in subdivision (f) of section 8-2.18. (2) Doors equipped with interlocks.
