Posting of signs.
Department of Labor
- (a) All elevator cars shall have a sign posted conspicuously, which shall show the maximum rated load that can be carried on the elevator.
- (b) All freight elevator cars shall have a sign posted conspicuously, reading as follows: “PASSENGERS NOT PERMITTED”.
- (c) All signs, except capacity signs, shall consist of letters not less than one inch in height.
- (d) Manually operated doors or gates of freight elevator hoistways, except those provided with interlocks, electric contacts or other approved devices performing similar functions, shall be provided with a sign posted conspicuously on the landing side of the doors or gates—“ELEVATOR—KEEP THIS SHUT”.
