Doors and gates.

Department of Labor

  1. (a) All elevator car and hoistway doors and gates shall be closed before the car leaves a landing.

    Exception:

    Self-closing hoistway doors and gates.

  2. (b) No hoistway door or gate shall be wedged or otherwise fastened in an open position.
  3. (c) All hoistway doors and gates and their equipment shall be maintained in an operative condition.
