Intent and purpose of this rule.
Department of Labor
(a) The intent of this rule is to:
(1) reduce occupational injuries and illnesses in the workplace;
(2) return injured or ill employees to work;
(3) reduce workers' compensation costs for employers; and
(4) encourage and reward employers that have implemented or plan to implement a quality, cost-effective safety incentive program , drug and alcohol prevention program, or return to work program.
(b) The purpose of this rule is to set forth:
(1) the procedures, including the application process, that must be followed in order for an employer to receive the department's approval of a WSLPIP;
(2) the minimum requirements for an acceptable safety incentive program, drug and alcohol prevention program and return to work program; and
(3) the basic educational and/or professional work experience required of an individual to be certified as a specialist.
