Fusible plugs.

  1. (a) Internally fired boilers having more than 50 square feet of heating surface shall be fitted with a fusible plug if required, in accordance with the ASME Code.
  2. (b) This provision shall not apply to boilers of the vertical tubular type or to dryback scotch type. The use of fusible plugs in these types of boilers is optional.
  3. (c) Fusible plugs shall not be used where boilers are gas or oil fired, except when the fusible plug is located in such a position that its operation cannot extinguish the flame.
