Except as otherwise provided in NRS 641A.242, each applicant for a license to practice as a clinical professional counselor must furnish evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant:

1. 1. Is at least 21 years of age;
2. 2. Is of good moral character;

3. 3. Has:

   1. (a) Completed residency training in psychiatry from an accredited institution approved by the Board;
   2. (b) A graduate degree from a program approved by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs as a program in mental health counseling or community counseling; or
   3. (c) An acceptable degree as determined by the Board which includes the completion of a practicum and internship in mental health counseling which was taken concurrently with the degree program and was supervised by a licensed mental health professional; and

4. 4. Has:

   1. (a) At least 2 years of postgraduate experience in professional counseling;

   2. (b) At least 3,000 hours of supervised experience in professional counseling which includes, without limitation:

      1. (1) At least 1,500 hours of direct contact with clients; and
      2. (2) At least 100 hours of counseling under the direct supervision of an approved supervisor of which at least 1 hour per week was completed for each work setting at which the applicant provided counseling; and
   3. (c) Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination which is administered by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
