1. 1. Each person responsible for any excavation or demolition that results in contact with, exposure of or damage to a subsurface installation shall:

   1. (a) Notify the operator of the location and nature of the damage; and
   2. (b) Allow the operator reasonable time, consistent with the practice in the industry, to arrange for and to make any necessary repairs to the subsurface installation before completing the excavation or demolition in the immediate area of the subsurface installation.

2. 2. Each person responsible for any excavation or demolition that results in any damage to a subsurface installation which permits the escape of water, of any flammable, toxic or corrosive gas or liquid, or of electricity, shall:

   1. (a) Notify the operator; and
   2. (b) Minimize the hazard until the arrival of the personnel of the operator.
